After having completed a No Buy Year in 2022 and spending a little too much the following year, I figured 2024 is a good year to do a Low Buy Year. In this post, I will go into detail about how the month of february went, if I have any regrets and how much of my yearly budget I have spent so far.
Not A Win, Not A Loss
After having a successful No Buy January, I slipped a little. I didn’t go overboard, but I did purchase a few items. Things I bought:
- A few thrifted clothing items, totalling 14.90$
- Phone protector for 1.83$
- Picture frame for 2.50$
Total amount spent on nonessential things: 19.23$
Budget for nonessential items in the year of 2024: 500$
500 – 19.23 = 480.77$ left
That is still a big chunk of money so I’m not worried. I do want to keep the amount of items in my place low, so I don’t think I will go out and buy a lot anyways, but it is good to have a little reminder each month of what I have brought in and how much of my budget is left. Regular check-ins are very helpful to stay on track.
